Riding with Hala this New Years Eve
2019 is coming to an end, and we’re just about to step into 2020 – time flies! New Year’s Eve is also approaching with loads of fireworks & parties, which also means lots of traffic.
Here are a few tips to help you get around Dubai as smoothly as possible!
- Road closures: Heads up. Some roads will be blocked to manage traffic congestion as thousands of people will be arriving early to grab a top spot to watch the fireworks set off! In particular, restrictions are in areas near Downtown from 4:00 PM on December 31st, 2019 until 5:00 AM on 1st January 2020.
- Restriction on car types: Like every year, most taxis will be stationed in selected pick up points only, and as a result will be less available on the application. Also, kindly note that Hala – Van Taxi will not be available.
- Booking multiple times: Keep in mind if you try to book multiple times, your chances of getting a car will be lower. If you need a quicker way to get around, try a different car type.
Our tips to get around:
We recommend you give your bookings a go, but just be aware of the above.
To make your life a little easier, we advise you to coordinate with your Captains on pick up locations as you can call them directly through the app, to ensure a smooth pick up experience.
We also recommend that you have a look at the communications and maps provided by the RTA through media and social handles, and consider alternative modes of transportation such as public transport or other car types available on the Careem App.
Whether you’re partying tonight or staying in with family & friends, we hope you have a safe & memorable New Year’s Eve.
Happy New Year, and see you in 2020!
