DYNAMIC PEAK FARE

Hala is committed to delivering a trusted, efficient and affordable e-hail service that meets the needs of both its valued customers and Captains. ‘Dynamic peak fares’ is one of the many levers put in motion that will enable Hala to strike a balance between real-time customer demand and taxi availability in times of a high surge in demand.

1. What is ‘dynamic peak fare’?

Dynamic peak fare is a fare multiplier which is automatically activated during busy periods.

That includes but is not limited to, rush hours in high density areas, times of special events/exhibitions, or when there’s unfavorable weather conditions.

This dynamic pricing strategy is based on an automated and real-time algorithm that helps manage and rebalance sudden surge in customer demand and taxi availability in specific areas and time periods.

Dynamic peak fare will be applicable between 8:00 am to 10:00 am and 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and not outside of these hours and only in certain high-demand/density locations in the city. The peak multiplier will be capped at a maximum peak of 1.3 x, to ensure that we’re still an affordable e-hail service for you.

Don’t worry! You’ll always be informed about the Peak multiplier before confirming your ride, so you’re fully informed and in control to plan your trip accordingly.

2. How does dynamic peak fare work? Why do customers need to pay peak fare?

During peak hours, such as rush hours (8:00 am to 10:00 am and 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm), holidays, events etc,  there is often a surge in the number of customers requesting rides while the real-time availability of taxis in these areas may be limited.

Dynamic peak fare helps to rebalance these two factors in certain times and certain locations in the city which in turn incentivizes captains to cater to these high demand/density areas. This helps reduce wait times for customers.

The peak multiplier will be capped at a maximum peak of 1.3 x, to ensure that we’re still an affordable e-hail service for you.
